DPS' Northfield High School on the Paul Sandoval Campus
As Denver’s Stapleton Northfield area grows rapidly with new homes and shopping, so does the need for schools. Denver Public Schools is expanding to meet the growing student population. On the Paul Sandoval Campus, three new projects are underway including Northfield High School’s expansion with a 100,000 square foot new construction building that will accommodate 1,000 additional students. This new building will sit next to the existing Northfield High School and will include nearly 50 classrooms along with administration support areas. The other two projects include adding onto the exiting gym building with two auxiliary gyms including locker rooms, concessions, and offices as well as adding a music and drama center to the existing cafeteria building.
Led by the architect of record, LOA Architecture, GA Interior Solutions partnered with Bethune Goodhue Associates to communicate the interior design intent starting with schematic designs, then design development, and finally completion of construction documents. GAI was responsible for creating interior elevations, finish plans, and schedules. Each project had a unique design palette that coordinated well with existing buildings on the campus. This project was completed using Revit 2018. Construction started in May 2019 and DPS is opening the new buildings by August 2020.
